Install DTS Designer

FineBuild can install and configure the DTS Designer as part of the SQL Server install process.
If you do not want to include DTS Designer in your FineBuild install, then do not download it.

DTS Designer is written by Microsoft. It was chosen to be included in FineBuild to provide the ability to create and edit DTS packages in SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

If you do not already use DTS packages then it is strongly recommended that you use SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) instead of DTS Designer.

If you install DTS Designer you must also Install SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility.

Apply KB917406 fix

This section is performed for SQL Server 2005 only.
The sqlwb.exe.manifest file supplied with SQL Server 2005 has a known fault (described in KB917406) that prevents downward compatibility with DTS 2000 from working. A correct version of this file is held in the FineBuild media, and this must be copied to the relevant program library.

1) Rename the following file:
Folder for 32-bit installations:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE
Folder for 64-bit installations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE
Old Name: sqlwb.exe.manifest
New Name: sqlwb.exe.manifest.original
2) Copy the following file:
Source Folder: FineBuild\Build Scripts
Source Name: KB917406.sqlwb.exe.manifest
Target folder for 32-bit installations:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE
Target folder for 64-bit installations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE
Target Name: sqlwb.exe.manifest

Integrate into SSMS and BIDS
