If the SQL instance will be used to host databases that mainly use a single byte character set, for best performance specify the SQL collation sequence ‘Dictionary order, case insensitive, for use with 1252 Character set’. If databases will mainly use double-byte character data, or if data will regularly be passed from SQL Server to Analysis Services, then performance will be improved by using the Windows collation ‘Latin1_General’.

It is recommended that both the Database Engine and Analysis Services collations are set to the same value.
